PetPlate review: cooked recipes, calories and cost per day

PetPlate advertises FreshCombo from $1.07 a day, not a quote for your dog. That figure was listed on PetPlate’s site on October 21, 2026. A moderately active, neutered 30 lb adult needs an estimated 744 kcal a day.

Recipes

Which recipes are cooked or baked?

PetPlate lists Barkin' Beef, Chompin' Chicken and Lip Lickin' Lamb as FreshCooked entrées. Roost Rulin’ Chicken and Trail Blazin’ Beef belong to its FreshBaked range. The brand describes the contrast as chunky cooked textures versus crunchy baked textures.

The cooked recipes’ open label pages do not publish calories. For Trail Blazin’ Beef, however, PetPlate lists 3,500 kcal ME per kg as fed and 413 kcal per cup. That baked recipe’s figure should not be used to portion the cooked meals.

Cooked and baked are separate product lines; use the calorie figure for the exact recipe.

How ordering works

How does the subscription work?

  1. Price

“Starting at $1.07/day for our FreshCombo Plan”petplate.com
  2. Delivery

“Unless otherwise indicated at the time of your purchase, shipping and handling fees are included with your order. Shipping dates and/or arrival times are only estimates.”petplate.com
  3. Pause or cancel

“All Plans are continuous AUTORENEWING subscription plans, and you will be charged the applicable price listed for the Plan that you select on a weekly, biweekly (every two weeks), or monthly basis, based on your plan until your subscription is canceled.”petplate.com

PetPlate charges for the first delivery when you select a plan. Its advertised first-box promotion is 50% off plus free treats; that is not the ongoing price. Plans renew automatically on a weekly, biweekly or monthly schedule, with the applicable charge tied to your selected plan.

The terms allow online or email pausing and cancellation after receipt of the first weekly order. Pause before the next charge date: amounts already charged are not refunded, and cancellation may not stop an active order. The charge-date notice is emailed at least 24 hours beforehand.

Check the recurring charge and deadline before accepting the first-box promotion.

Delivery and storage

Where does PetPlate deliver?

PetPlate’s terms limit sales to the United States and U.S. territories. Meals ship at the intervals selected in your subscription. Shipping and handling are included unless checkout says otherwise; arrival dates are estimates.

The terms describe the products as perishable and exclude returns or exchanges. The cited pages do not establish packaging materials or recipe-specific storage instructions. Do not assume the cooked and baked lines have identical storage requirements.

Confirm storage directions for your chosen product before its delivery arrives.

Owners and recalls

What do reviews and recall searches show?

0recall notices foundfda.gov search, October 21, 2026

On October 21, 2026, Trustpilot showed PetPlate at 3 out of 5, rated “Average.” The review count was not visible in the page read, so the score cannot be paired with a verified count here.

A search of fda.gov on the same date found no recall notice naming PetPlate. That is a search result, not a guarantee that no recall has occurred.

The Trustpilot score and FDA search answer different questions; neither is a food-safety guarantee.

Same dog, other brands

What do other brands cost?

For the same 30 lb adult at 744 kcal a day, Viva Raw Beef for Dogs works out to $9.59 daily at its brand-store catalog price. JustFoodForDogs Beef & Russet Potato is $12.16 daily at its store’s one-time price. Both prices were checked October 21, 2026.

These are estimates using label calories and the FEDIAF, AAHA and WSAVA methods, not brand feeding quotes. Calorie density changes the grams needed. PetPlate’s advertised starting figure is not an equivalent same-dog price; compare the price bases in the daily-cost table.

Compare the same calorie allowance and price basis, not a subscription starting figure against a calculated full day.

Who it fits

Who might consider PetPlate?

PetPlate offers store availability as well as delivery, and its subscription has online account controls. Those options may suit owners who want a choice of buying channels or a recurring delivery schedule.

Owners seeking an exact cooked-food budget before choosing a plan should compare openly priced alternatives. For life stage, PetPlate says Trail Blazin’ Beef meets AAFCO profiles for growth and adult maintenance, including large-size growth. Ask your vet before choosing food for a puppy, especially a large-breed puppy.

Buying flexibility is established; an individual cooked-food portion and recurring budget need closer checking.

Questions

PetPlate: short answers

How much does PetPlate cost per day?

PetPlate’s FreshCombo starting figure is not a personalized daily cost. The subscription terms say you pay the applicable price for the plan selected; use that recurring amount rather than the introductory promotion when budgeting.

Is PetPlate cooked or raw?

The named products are FreshCooked and FreshBaked entrées, not raw recipes. PetPlate describes the former as gently cooked and the latter as slowly baked.

Can you cancel a PetPlate subscription online?

Yes. The terms allow account-based cancellation or pausing after receipt of the first weekly order. Act before the next charge date, because an already charged order may still proceed.

How much PetPlate should a 30 lb dog eat?

For a neutered, moderately active adult, the calorie estimate is 744 kcal daily, with a 694–794 kcal range between methods. Treat this as a starting point, weigh the dog monthly and adjust; grams depend on the specific recipe’s calorie density.
